On March 8, 1942, in Horntown Virginia, Samuel Lewis Jr. entered the world in matrimony to Hattie (Townsend) Lewis and Samuel Lewis Sr. He passed away February 1, 2023, at home in Ellendale, DE.
Samuel attended William C Jason High School in Georgetown DE, and then served in the US Armed Forces in the Vietnam war From Dec 1965 - Dec 1969. Later, he would be employed by Allen Family Foods, retiring from there as a live haul driver.
"June," as he was affectionately called, enjoyed drawing, maintaining his yard and taking weekend trips to the auction. Perhaps one of June's favorite pastimes was cutting up while cutting hair with his friends inside of his barbershop right in his backyard.
Samuel was preceded in death by: Hattie Lewis - mother, Samuel Lewis Sr. - father, Emma Lewis - wife, Virginia (Sis) Gibbs - sister, Doris Bowden - sister, Edith Mann - sister, John Henry - Brother and Robert (Bobby) Lewis - brother.
Samuel leaves to forever cherish his memories his (5) children, Martha Lewis of Lincoln, DE, Sandra (Cleophas) Mullen of Ellendale,DE, Samuel Tingle of Coolspring,DE, Maurice Tingle of DoverDE and Tornita Lewis of Milton,DE (17) grandchildren , a host of great-grandchildren, (6) siblings; Winnie Mann (Leroy) of Georgetown DE, Linwood Lewis (Sharon) of Felton DE, Christine Gibbs (Nathaniel) of Dover DE, Ella Hardy (Gregory) of Milford DE, Othar Lewis of Hagerstown MD, Geraldine Burgman (Charles) Glen Burnie MD, 2 aunts; Annie Mae Jenkins of Seaford DE and Hazel Marshall of Horntown VA a host of other relatives and friends.
