Deja Monique Ross was born on July 10, 1989, in Seaford Delaware at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital to Sheila Ross and Michael Edelin Sr. Deja departed this life on Monday, November 27, 2023. Deja received her education at Woodbridge Elementary School, Laurel Middle School, and graduated from Laurel High School in 2008. Deja went on to pursue her love for cooking by obtaining a certification in Culinary Arts.
Deja had her first job at Pizza Hut in Seaford, DE as a pizza maker. Her latest places of employment were in Wilmington DE, at The GoodWill, a parking valet at a local hotel, and FedEx.
Deja was a fun, loving daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed family barbecues, dinners, and other family get-togethers. She loved any and everything chocolate when it came to the kitchen. Her passion for cooking led to her being named “Betty Crocker” by her family. Deja enjoyed shopping and nail shop excursions with her grandmother Catherine Ross and cousins Shenene, Tajia, and Myra. In addition, Deja loved to listen to music (including her favorite artists Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, and Lil Wayne), recite the lines from all of her favorite movies, spend time with friends, and whip up masterpieces in the kitchen. She also loved cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, her favorite football team. Through all of these things she loved, Deja was known for her bright warm smile, her beauty mark, and her big dimples that everyone loved, and will always remember her by.
Deja leaves to cherish her memory a loving mother Sheila Ross and Father Michael Edelin Sr.; Grandmothers Catherine Ross and Valorah Edelin; a brother Michael Edelin Jr; her favorite and only baby nephew, Legend Edelin; aunts Gwendolyn Bishop, and Prudence (Leon) Martin; Uncles Herman Ross Jr., Leslie Ross, Terrence Ross, Otis Marks III, and Joseph Marks; godmother Trista (Hollis) Smack; godsister; Lakira Williams; godbrother Zyron Smack; godsons Ny’sere McCray, Quaire’ Davis and Ka’Myre Snead; goddaughter Legend Tull; two dear friends Shanika Lofland and Cierra Baynard; a host of great aunts, uncles and cousins including her favorites “Chrissy’s Crew” of 14 first cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers Herman Ross Sr., Otis Marks Jr., bonus grandmother Delorna Marks, aunt Evelyn Jefferson, and best friend Tysha White.
Deja will be truly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
